Posted November 29, 2019. Modern DI diesels don't need plugs to start until well below 0c, they're mainly used for emissions reduction and a smother idle now. It's the old IDI's that needed plugs to start even in fairly mild temps. The light also has no relation to the plugs, they stay on long after the light has gone out.
The remote start for preheating the cab or the heated steering wheel (for goodness sake) wouldnt be needed if Ford had retained the Ceramic heater in the Diesel. If they don't have 12 volts then the starter itself is o.k. If the large wire does not have 12 volts then there is an issue with the vehicle battery, battery cable, or connection. If the smaller wire does not have 12 volts then there can be a fault with the ignition switch or starter relay that has to be replaced.
